With the development of superior sites such as Google, we can find almost any information we are looking for based on a simple search of particular words or phrases. However, locating an icon online is infinitely more difficult. This problem is being addressed by a new website in its Beta stage called Iconfinder.
This free search tool is invaluable for webpreneurs and bloggers around the world. Simply enter the word you want to find an icon for and the system will locate suitable, downloadable icons related to your search. Iconfinder was really easy to use and the results were so effective that I was virtually amazed by this new, useful resource.
The icons on Iconfinder are all presented in PNG—format so the pixels can be transparent. The links should be downloaded to save the icons locally so they do not lose their alpha—channel information. You can even submit your own icons by emailing the site’s administrator, Martin LeBlanc with the icons attached in a compressed format.
Since I am always looking for new icons for blogging and web endeavors, I have already marked Iconfinder as a favorite so I can return and search for more downloadable icons when I need them.
